Whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s
(Romans 14:8)
Jesus says: I am the resurrection and the life. those who believe in me even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.
(John 11:25-26)Our citizenship is in heaven.
(Philippians 3:20a)
The assurances given to us in the Good News of Jesus’ redeeming death and resurrection allow Christian death & burial to be a time of confident hope. The Columbarium at Grace Lutheran Church provides sacred space for the interment of the cremated remains of those who have completed their earthly pilgrimage and partake of the Lord’s rest until Jesus’ return in glory to gather the saints to himself in heaven.
The Grace Columbarium provides two modes of committal: 1) Individual niches large enough for the remains of two individuals within a single handcrafted wooden box. Each metal niche is faced with translucent glass; 2) a large enclosed metal niche serves as a common site where cremated remains may be co-mingled.
The funerary boxes placed within any given separate niche bear names and birth/death dates. Names and birth/death dates of those interred in the common site are specially acknowledged in the Columbarium area.
Costs
The cost for niche, glass front piece and funerary box is a unit price of $800 to be adjusted as the prices of materials, engraving, and handcrafting change. Reservation forms are available from the Church Office. There is no cost for placement in the common niche. Columbarium donations are welcomed. Specially designated offering envelopes are available in the Columbarium space or from the church office. Cremation arrangements and costs are not included in the above and are not the responsibility of Grace Lutheran Church.
The Columbarium site, located in ambulatory space behind the altar sanctuary, provides worship space for private prayer and small groups devotions. A Bible, worship books and other printed materials are available with lighting suitable for reading.
The Columbarium is available before or after any regular congregational worship occasion and by appointment through the church office for other times.
Columbarium Committee
The Columbarium Committee of Grace Lutheran Church is charged with the responsibility to administer the use, maintenance and expansion of the Columbarium. The design, construction and installation of the entire Columbarium including the crafting of the boxes to occupy the niches is the commissioned work of Mr. Douglas Dye. The bronze angel, linens, and sash in the color of the season are donations from members of Grace
Soli Deo Gloria / To God Alone the Glory.
